It's tough for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

This is the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and once went over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

That it took up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the pitchers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's difficult for their hitters to maintain a record if not provided the possibility.

Ultimately, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to create her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has witnessed all through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her debut and seven global championships have come from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

If this latest epic knock topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the argument supporting championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was considerably tougher to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this performance was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in training, it was a disappointing period because it seemed my form was missing whatsoever," stated Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive nature activate and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from there the batsman was in motion.

"The possibility to play and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

When she was dismissed the team required another 66 at one run per ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm pleased we have the assurance to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we believe we can achieve it."

That comment will be the final thing rival teams at this tournament need to hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this victory following success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she later said she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

But while she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this championship is anticipated as her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as leader.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
