Mario's Galactic Adventure Trailer Debuts, Unveiling Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voice Cast

Nintendo alongside Illumination shared the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. The reveal happened in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.

The sequel to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will propel Mario to the outer limits of the cosmos. Along the way, he discovers a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.

A Cosmic Adventure Drawing from Iconic Releases

Similar to the Wii console classics that act as its source material, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. Throughout his extensive trek, he will meet again some recognizable characters, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.

However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who apparently commands metallic abilities. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also features references to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Celebrity Voice Actors Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers

The movie will see the return of the primary vocal talent, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.

Mario's Major Moment

The new Mario movie is planned to debut around the time of the 40th anniversary of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Beyond the film, 2026 is shaping up to be a important time for Mario and his allies.

Nintendo has three new games already confirmed for that year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Premiere Date Announced

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
