US lawmakers from each parties are assigning blame as thousands of federal staff remain on uncompensated time off and the closure persists with no conclusion in prospect.

Democrats have declined to support the Republican funding bill unless lapsing healthcare subsidies which they argue many laboring parents depend on are extended.

The Republican Party desire Democrats to approve a short-term bill beforehand and then they can address the subsidies.

The Republicans have fifty-three yeas, they require sixty to pass the measure. Is it that hard to reach agreement over 7 votes so that the public avoid harm?

If this continues for an extended period, the bottom line is Americans are being affected, American citizens are being touched by this and somebody needs to step up to be the grown-up in the negotiations.

I feel sometimes legislators are so far away from the people, the average individual living their lives, so they overlook what the challenge is like and I feel they need to take that into consideration, particularly if it's three-quarters of a million US citizens that are unpaid.

That's a lot of Americans missing wages, that's a significant number of citizens unable to inject their earnings into the economic system. Citizens are just being negatively impacted.

I'm anxious because there is no favorable conclusion with the government being closed.

I'm extremely anxious about what's going to transpire to low-income families, scholars who depend on government grants and federal employees.

But this is a important struggle for the Democratic Party to pursue. Naturally positions are going to be cut, services are going to go without funding, which is so disappointing but I feel that is blood that the Democratic Party would have on their conscience.

I believe it's worth it to hold out, this is communicating a meaningful statement to their voters.

I question if the top Democrat has a strategy for an off-ramp to talks or how to lead the faction out of this.

I am uncertain if the Democrats have a strong enough narrative to the American people on what they're attempting.

In terms of digital outreach, the Republicans certainly have the upper hand. The narrative is not persuasive on what the left are trying to do.

I'm presently at a stage where I'm kind of nervous because government shutdowns don't help the public.

I'm going to be fine, but for everyone else who relies on the federal system, who hopes to explore a public land or museum, they're going to be impacted, if not immediately, then in the short term.

And that is intolerable.

I don't see that this is going to resolve.

The ordinary citizens are stuck in the crossfire, and Democrats are prepared to disregard them. They're not doing their reputation any favours when they truly hold up things like this.

The Democratic approach is a challenging one, but sadly it is a required one.

The administration leader is a intimidator and if you give into a intimidator he's going to ask for further compromises, that's how bullies behave. So you have to confront a intimidator to make him understand you're not going to give things up for free.

The juncture when it goes too far is when the Democrats start suffering in the narrative struggle, if the narrative turns to faulting the Democrats then it might be time to reach a resolution.

I would believe after the period that the Democrats have had, I would have thought that they would have supported the continuing resolution, at least in the short term.

The left have become so opposed of the administration, whatever he suggests I think they would seek reasons to battle him.
