Although the reception for Peacemaker the latest season has been mostly positive, with fans and critics praising the performances and storyline—even if the big twist in the seventh installment wasn't exactly a shock—one critique has intensified as the season continues: dwindling episode runtimes.

In recent weeks, viewers have voiced frustration over the noticeably shorter episode lengths this season, and it's true, the episodes have been getting shorter and shorter. Episode 7, titled “Like a Keith in the Night,” ran just 28 minutes (not counting the recap, opening credits, and closing credits), marking the briefest installment yet.

Peacemaker showrunner and DCU boss Gunn wrote on Threads, replying to a disappointed fan.

Despite this news, it remains unclear exactly how much of the runtime will be actual new footage, free from opening and ending sequences, or recaps of previous events. That said, should the finale includes all the aforementioned filler, that would still allow for roughly three-quarters of an hour for the finale, which is a significant improvement after episode 7.

The director earlier hinted that the finale would not only conclude Peacemaker but also give a hint towards the direction the greater DCU at large will be moving and act as a prequel of sorts for the upcoming Man of Tomorrow film. Considering the brief appearance of Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor from the sixth installment, fans expect a exciting guest appearance to cap off the show.

The show's season conclusion, the eighth episode, is titled "The Full Nelson," and we'll just have to wait to see if viewer theories are proven correct.
